Game Birds
One of my favorite Game Bird is the Chukar Partridge.
you pronounce it ( Chuck -ER )hence, ChukarPartridge
A Plump, medium-sized bird introduced into North America from Eurasia, the ChukarPartridge is a pale-colored, but boldly patterned bird. The bird's red bill and legs contrast with its pale gray upperparts.
A black line surrounds the bird's whitish throat and cheek, and extends over its eyes. The ChukarPartridge sides are cream with bold black stripes. ChukarPartridge can be found on steep, dry, rocky slopes with all over the USA near any vegetation. Because cheatgrass is a major food source, Chukars are often spotted near this introduced grass. They survive at elevations ranging from 500 to 4,000 feet. They seem to winter well. The ChukarPartridge makes it's nest right on the ground, made out of twigs, grass and even feathers. The ChukarPartridge lays over a dozen eggs and sets until hatching. They have become a great gamebird for hunters all across the globe. Although very hard to hunt, because of their speed.
Watching them in a cage is quite enjoyable. They are hyper, the colors of the birds blend greatly and their heating habits mark that of a chicken.
